I learned to knit from my mom, who is also an expert weaver. After a few afghan projects and some basic scarves, I heard the term "art yarn," which I promptly googled, and I stumbled upon Etsy. It was all over from there. I *had* to know how to make this incredibly awesome, tactile stuff myself. An inexpensive wheel and a weekend spinning class led to multiple wheels, drum carders, dyeing equipment, and an obsession with fiber that I could not walk away from.

Today, I use my late 18th-century loft to whip up hand-dyed, hand-spun, hand-knit pieces of glorious wearable fiber art. Some days I can't locate my beagle patron saint of fiber, Tucker, under all my supplies. There are few things as relaxing to me as digging through soft, squishy bags of brightly-colored fiber and bins of sequins, ribbons, and felt balls to concoct a yarn that is by itself a work of art. Although I still love to knit, carding and spinning are now among my favorite pastimes.

I let the fiber speak for itself - and as it so happens, fiber has a lot to say. Each stage of the creative process affords opportunities to let things turn out as they will, and I love this aspect of the craft.
